The 3 must have basics before you tan..

  • Eyewear –FDA approved
  •  Lip Balm –SPF 15+
  • Indoor Tanning Lotion

Eyewear:  Eyewear is essential every time your eyes are exposed to uv light indoors or outdoors.  Your eyelids are too thin to protect your eyes from sunlight and should always be protected. FDA approved eyewear is required to enter the tanning room.

Protect Your Eyes, see the future..

Lip Balm: It is important to apply an SPF 15 lip balm before every tanning session, indoors or outdoors.  Our lips have no melanin and therefore cannot tan.  If you skip this step your lips will feel dry and chapped. Since nobody wants to kiss dry lips Tiki strongly suggests you use your lip balm.

Protect Your Lips, thank us later..

Lotion:  We care about your skin and you should too! The use of quality indoor tanning lotion will likely lead to healthier skin a darker tan and even an improved complexion. Healthy moisturized skin tans better. You may also find that you need to tan less often which will save you time and money.

Get Your Tiki Tan Faster, Keep it Longer..

A few things about lotions:

Bronzers: many of our lotions contain one or more “bronzers”. This is simply something that gives you more immediate color and works together with the UV light to give you a darker, more golden tan. Some of our higher end products feature multiple bronzers to give really dramatic results.

Tingle: Tingle lotions contains ingredients that cause stimulation to the skin that will increases surface circulation leading to a faster tan. This helps the skin tan better since more circulation means the pigment cells are carried to the skin’s surface faster . Tingle products can be very effective but may cause reddening and discomfort in some people so its best to try a mild one and stick to one area the first time you try it.

SPF & Outdoor lotions: All of our indoor lotions are designed for use in a tanning bed/booth where your exposure time and level is controlled. There are no sunscreens or SPF’s in them because you are paying for the precise exposure level we provide. The use of sunscreens or SPF’s should only be used if you are exposing areas to uv light that may be lighter, have an area that burns faster or want to cover a tattoo to prevent fading and ,of course, SPF for your lips.

Choosing a lotion: While the choices here may seem overwhelming the important thing is that you at least use something. Our staff are here to help you select the product that is right for your skin and your budget. Using at least a basic indoor lotion will help you get much better results and keep your skin healthy.  While you don’t have to buy the most expensive product on the shelf you will find that the better products will get you darker and help keep your tan longer. If you are paying to go in a higher level bed a good lotion that gets you better results that last longer should be looked at as an investment. You will need to tan less often which will more than cover the extra cost of the lotion.
